Cincinnati-shot film ‘Carol’ nominated for 5 Golden Globes

FOX19 – The highly anticipated Cincinnati-shot film “Carol” earned five movie nominations, including best dramatic picture, for the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards.

Todd Haynes’ 1950s love story “Carol,” took a nomination for best drama, best director, acting nominations for Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, and a nomination for best score.

The Golden Globes will air live on Jan. 10.

“Carol” is set in 1950s New York City but was shot entirely in Cincinnati in 2014 and filmed in such locations as Over-The-Rhine, Cheviot, Eden Park and Alexandria, Ky.

Blanchett plays Carol, a married woman who risks everything when she embarks on a romance with a young clerk named Therese Belivet, played by Mara.

“Carol” is expected to open at the Esquire Theater on Dec. 24.
