The national average for a gallon of gas exceeds $4.

According to automotive organization AAA, on March 14, the average price for a gallon of gas in America was $4.32. That’s “26 cents more than a week ago, 84 cents more than a month ago and $1.47 more than a year ago,” says AAA. This drastic uptick is a result of Russia’s war on Ukraine and the increase in crude oil prices.

“The cost of oil accounts for about 50% of what drivers pay at the pump,” says Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson, in a release. “This war is roiling an already tight global oil market and making it hard to determine if we are near a peak for pump prices, or if they keep grinding higher. It all depends on the direction of oil prices.”

And while no one wants to pay $4 at the tank, Hamilton County offers a service on its website to help drivers find the best deals on gas.

The site lists the 10 spots for the cheapest gas in the county, reported with data from gasbuddy.com.

On March 15, gas was available for $3.93 cash at a Circle K in Reading and for $3.99 at several Shell stations and UDFs. There is also cheaper gas available at Costco and Sam’s Club locations, but you must be a member to fill up there.

Data is updated daily, so check hamiltoncountyohio.gov before your next visit to the gas station.
